The 2010 Utah gubernatorial special election was held on November 2, 2010, to fill the remainder of the term after Republican Governor Jon Huntsman Jr. resigned to become U.S. Ambassador to China and Lieutenant Governor Gary Herbert assumed the governorship. Herbert, running as the Republican nominee, defeated Democratic challenger Peter Corroon, winning with 64.07% of the vote to Corroon’s 31.90% in the general election.
