In the 2022 Nevada U.S. Senate election held on November 8, 2022, incumbent Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez Masto narrowly secured re-election, defeating Republican challenger Adam Laxalt. Cortez Masto received 48.81% of the vote, while Laxalt garnered 48.04%. Cortez Masto's victory was pivotal in maintaining the Democratic Party's control of the Senate. She won in the state's two largest counties, Clark (which includes Las Vegas) and Washoe (which includes Reno), flipping Washoe County compared to her 2016 performance. Laxalt led in the more rural counties, but their smaller populations were insufficient to overcome Cortez Masto's advantage in urban areas.
